Beefmaster Magazine

About

BEEFMASTER is a curated online art space that features monthly released exhibitions and multidisciplinary projects. Created in 2004 as an experimental online art magazine our site originally operated on a multi-artist quarterly released format. Now located in Portland, Oregon BEEFMASTER has grown into a comprehensive art website that represents local and international artists and provides a forum for community development and project promotion.

The site greets roughly 1000 visitors a month, offering a forum for artistic encouragement and professional growth. Connecting artists, writers, designers and other creative minds, BEEFMASTER supports the pursuit of artistic expression and explores the potential of discovery/exploration on the web. This unique space allows us to connect artists from across the globe, introducing artists and art enthusiasts to a larger more accessible art world.

What does BEEFMASTER mean?
Beef is one of the principle meats in American dining, and is often seen as the “main course” or central part of the meal. As one of the worlds leading consumers of BEEF, we found our name to be a fitting commentary on consumption and sustenance, and we really want you to eat more art. We at BEEFMASTER see our monthly exhibitions as the main course, feeding you the GRADE A choice cuts to fill your ravenous hunger. BEEFMASTER.

Why do you have Volumes and Issues?
The Volume and Issue format started back in 2004 when BEEFMASTER was an online art magazine. As BEEFMASTER has grown, we continue to maintain our interest in publishing, and our goal of developing a yearly printed publication. Our Volume and Issue labeling is our way of paying homage to our humble beginnings, and to keep track of monthly releases for future projects.
